Digital Tachograph Training For Drivers

Drivers' Hours And Tachographs

There are over 20 courses in this area. A typical Drivers' Hours 'refresher' course lasts three hours, including questions, the key subjects covered including:
  • Drivers’ Hours
  • How to fill in the centre field of a chart
  • Driver responsibilities
  • Company responsibilities
  • Recognising some tachograph malfunctions
  • Charts that have been recorded 12 hours out
  • How many charts to keep available for inspection
  • What to do if stopped by an Enforcement Officer
  • The advantages of detailed analysis of a chart following an incident

Training For Drivers

Of the training courses TAC provides, some are aimed specifically at drivers. These emphasise points of importance and particular relevance to drivers, for example:
  • Driving to a point of safety if possibly over Drivers' Hours
  • What to do if stopped on the road by an Enforcement Officer

Style And Numbers

Courses are run on as informal a basis as numbers will allow. Questions are answered as they arise throughout the course.

The RTITB Academy represents a £1.25 million investment. It is a new, fully equipped, 2,569 sq m purpose built,

training centre in Telford. Its primary function is to deliver professional programmes that are cost efficient, relevant and robust, using methods that are suited to the way people learn.

There are additional training facilities in Liverpool.

As transport is a demanding business, training can be accommodated at nearly all times (for example: out of office hours, weekends) and can be undertaken at extensive training facilities at TAC.

Most training courses can be undertaken on your own site at a time that suits you.

Who Should Attend

Some courses are transport specific and designed for those working in a transport environment (including managers, supervisors, traffic office staff, and anyone for which an increased awareness of transport would be of benefit). Other courses (Management Development, Health And Safety At Work etc) are general, with no specific bias towards transport. Previous knowledge is not required for most TAC training courses.
